Himavad Gopalaswamy Betta welcomes you with its mist-covered hills, serene surroundings, and spiritual charm. Located at a height of 4,770 ft above mean sea level, this hill is the highest peak in the Bandipur National Park region and is enveloped by thick forests and shola grasslands. At the summit sits the centuries-old Gopalaswamy Temple, dedicated to Lord Krishna, drawing both devotees and nature lovers.

The name "Himavad" comes from the frequent fog (mist) that covers the hill even during summer months, giving the place an ethereal appearance. The temple's peaceful setting and the panoramic views of Bandipur’s wildlife-rich terrain make it a perfect escape for spiritual seekers and trekking enthusiasts alike. Entry is regulated by the forest department to preserve its ecology, and private vehicles are not allowed beyond the foothill. A government-managed bus service takes visitors to the top.
Due to the sanctuary’s presence, elephants, deer, and other wildlife are often sighted in the surrounding forests. Visitors are advised not to wander off the paths and strictly adhere to forest guidelines. Carry essentials such as water, light snacks, and a first aid kit. Avoid staying too long at the top as the area is part of a protected forest zone.
